Nepal Holiday Tour

The beauty of Nepal Holiday Tour is to enjoy the historical palaces and the age old temples of the Kathmandu valley with an overnight stay at bird’s eye view point of the valley. Our resort overlooking the valley and the mountains in the back ground is truly unforgettable. Nepal Holiday Tour combines the lake side beauty of Pokhara and then offers you the taste of Tibet with gentle walk and treks through the remote region of Mustang. The trip explores the dense tropical jungle of the Chitwan National Park tracing various wildlife and exotic birds and finally ends with the amazing Everest Mountain flight.

 

ITINERARY

Day 1. In Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu. Your group leader or the office representative will meet you at the airport and will transfer you to Hotel Yak and Yeti. Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. Arrangements will be made for the distribution of your kit bag at 5 pm.
Welcome dinner is organized at 6:30 pm in one of the traditional Nepali restaurants and this is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the fellow group members before the trip.

Day 2. Morning sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and drive to Lakhure Bhanjyang
In the morning we explore Kathmandu on an organized sightseeing tour visiting Boudhanath and Pusupathi Nath, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world and the most famous Hindu temple in the country. After having lunch we drive to Lakhuri Bhanjyang. Stay overnight at Lakhuri Bhanjyang overlooking the Kathmandu valley at night.

Day 3. Fly to Pokhara
Early morning we will have breakfast enjoying the spectacular views of the mountains. After breakfast in the hotel we take a four wheel drive to the domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport for the 20 minute flight to Pokhara. As we land we become struck by the scale of huge peaks that surround the town. We then drive to our hotel Fish Tail Lodge. Pokhara has become the most popular destination in Nepal after Kathmandu. We spend our time enjoying a guided city tour exploring the main high lights of Pokhara city. Aside from sightseeing, we keep visiting the Seti River gorge - one of the best places to see. You will have an opportunity to take a glimpse to the limestone cave of Mahendra Gufa, used to be well-known for its stalactites. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 4. Fly to Jomsom and drive to Kagbeni
We take an early morning mountain flight (weather permitting) from Pokhara up the Kali Gandaki Gorge between the peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna to land at the small airstrip at Jomsom, the administrative center of Mustang district in full view of Nilgiri. After we disembark, we collect our gear, and drive towards Kagbeni. We begin our drive along the bank of the Kali Gandaki River, passing through Eklebhatti to the medieval-looking village of Kagbeni, formerly the northernmost area that foreigners could visit. The arid climate, mud-walled houses, and Tibetan dress and language are indications of how closely this area is linked with Tibet. Stay overnight in Kagbeni in one of the luxury lodges.

Day 5. Excursion trek to Danggarjong
After having breakfast in the morning we pass by the Mustang permit check post and head towards the valley bottom to cross the bridge over Kali Gandaki River. After crossing the bridge the trail is gradual uphill and then the trail undulates till we get to Danggarjong. Here in Danggarjong, there is a very famous Khang Monastery, a centre of the Nyingmapa sect. The village is very distinct with its white washed houses, intriguing pattern of alleyways and is surrounded by fields of wheat, barley and buckwheat. One will experience a strong influence of Tibetan culture in this part of the world. After having lunch we return back to our luxury lodge in Kagbeni. Overnight at Kagbeni.

Day 6. Drive to Muktinath
We set off for today’s adventure after breakfast. It is an hour drive to the famous Hindu temple of Muktinath. Thousand of Hindu pilgrims visit this temple every year from all over the world. It is believed those who visit this temple will get rid of all their sins in life and is regarded as a good Karma. The building of this holy temple is initiated by Queen Subarna Prabha, the second wife of Shah Bahadur (1775-1806), King of Nepal, after she had a dream. In 1815 AD – the year of the ending of the Anglo – Nepal war – the temple at Muktinath was built, as can be read on a bronze plate in the temple. The temple complex also has Mebar Lhakang Gompa which is also called Jwala Mai Temple, which has eternal burning flames of natural gas. On returning back we visit Jharkot which is one of the oldest villages in this region. We will visit the monastery and finally return back to Kagbeni. Overnight at Kagbeni.

Day 7. Drive to Jomsom and fly back to Pokhara
We bid farewell to Kagbeni and drive along the bank of Kali Gandaki River to catch our flight to Pokhara. Fly back to Pokhara and enjoy the afternoon with sightseeing tour. Overnight at Pokhara.

Day 8. Drive to Chitwan (Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge, all jungle activities and on full board basis)
This morning after breakfast we travel overland from Pokhara to Royal Chitwan National Park. We stay at Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge. Upon arrival we are briefed on the planned activities during our stay and the park in general. Late afternoon and early morning are the best times to sight wild life, so other times tend to be for less energetic activities. We will have lunch at the lodge and commence our activity program. Our accommodation is in two bed huts with a private bathroom. Solar heated water is available in the afternoons.

Day 9. In Chitwan (Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge, all jungle activities on full board basis)
A full day activities are available including jungle walks, elephant rides, canoe rides, bird watching and four wheel drive excursions, as well as lectures on elephant and other fauna. The quieter you are and more subdued your clothing, the greater your chances of seeing animals. Your chances of sighting are a very rare Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, one horned rhinos and many deer, bore, bear, peacocks, an extra ordinary number of bird species and is occasionally visited by wild elephants.

Day 10. Fly to Kathmandu and afternoon sightseeing tour
Fly to Kathmandu and enjoy the afternoon with sightseeing tour. In the evening you can enjoy with group farewell dinner.

Day 11. Morning Everest Mountain flight and Departure
In the morning enjoy the panoramic view of the Everest Himalayas in an hour mountain flight. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.

The day-to-day schedule should be taken only as a general guide. A variety of factors, including adverse weather conditions, difficulty with transportation and politics can lead to enforced changes. Because of this it is not possible to guarantee that any of our holidays will run exactly according to the planned itinerary. The trip leader will make any changes, which are necessary.

PETER CHETTRI: Peter holds a very good sense of humour and adventurous spirit which has made him an asset to the company. He was born in Nepal and brought up in Sikkim. As a graduate in Arts, he has a good command over both spoken and written English. He has been leading treks with Alps in Nepal for four years. He has done a first aid training specialised in Acute Mountain Sickness. His excellent leadership has always earned a good reputation to the company. 
 
ASHIM SUBBA: Ashim is a travel enthusiast who has always been keen on adventure. He went to the University in Calcutta and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce. Apart from being fluent in Nepali and English, he also speaks Japanese and has been involved in trekking for last two years. He has completed the first aid training including high altitude medicine. His expertness as a leader is one of the keys to our success.
