| Clothing |
Bring comfortable clothing that will protect you from cold (and possibly wet) weather. We recommend that you layer with synthetic clothing (such as polypropylene, Capilene, or pile). Synthetic fabrics are the most effective barriers against the cold. They provide the best insulation, they are light in weight, wick away perspiration, and dry quickly if wet. Wool and wool/synthetic blends are also suitable. We discourage the use of cotton garments in cold or wet mountain conditions. |

| A cultural note about clothing |
The clothing you wear on trek (and in Kathmandu) should be sufficiently modest. For example, it would be culturally insensitive for women visitors to wear skin-tight pants or skimpy shorts and sports bra tops. We suggest women trek in comfortable, loose fitting long pants. Likewise, men should avoid going bare-chested and wearing skimpy running shorts. Long, baggy hiking-type shorts for men are acceptable, although full-length pants are best.
Clothing requirement for each trip varies due to difference in elevation and different time of the year. Please check clothing/equipment section in each of the itineraries. |
