Getting Around Kathmandu

Getting into town is easy as there are lots of taxis, which are relatively inexpensive, costing around 100 Rupees from the hotel to the center of town, depending, of course on where you are staying. Ensure that the driver pushes down the meter flag at the beginning of your journey. After 9 p.m. taxis can be difficult to find and the fare will usually be double. Or you can negotiate the fare before you get in the taxi. Other means of transportation is rickshaw, which is completely open to bargaining. You can also hire bicycle or the motorbike, which is convenient to get from Thamel. Besides these you can also try the local buses, micro van and tuktuk. Majority of Nepalese are helpful and generous, so if you get lost they will always be there to help you in giving you a direction. As long as you understand the cultural differences then you are quite okay adjusting yourself in the Nepali society.
We in Alps in Nepal would be very happy to organize you the vehicle in and around Nepal.
