Vaccinations

For entry into Nepal there are no statutory vaccinations. However, we advise vaccination against typhoid, tetanus and hepatitis. An injection against cholera is no longer considered necessary although you should check with your doctor or medical center for current information. We also strongly suggest that you be inoculated against meningococcal meningitis. If you are travelling to the low land jungles of Nepal (such as Chitwan National Park, for example) where malaria is potentially hazard then you may need to take a course of anti-malaria tablets, however it is not recommended to be taking anti-malarial tablets at altitude. Consult your doctor in regard to necessary procedures.

It is your responsibility to bring sufficient quantities of any specific medications you require. Consult your doctor before departure so that he/she knows the conditions under which you will be taking the medication. Advise us of any side effects of any medication you take and of any dietary requirements related to taking them and be sure to let your group leader know of any drugs of food to which you are allergic. On most trips you will be isolated from modern medical facilities, so attention to medical maters is vital.
